Natural Foods
Bush tucker is a term used to describe food found in the Australian
bush.
Indigenous Australian's once lived by eating only bush foods, which
are generally very nutritious. Bush tucker is still collected, hunted
and enjoyed by many people in Arnhem
Land today. To hunt animals
and gather plants you need an excellent knowledge and understanding
of your environment to know where, when and how to find food.
Bush tucker in Arnhem Land includes animals like emu, crocodile,
turtle & turtle
eggs, dugong, kangaroo, goanna, mud crab and barramundi and a range
of native plant foods like billy goat plums, wild cashew nuts,
eeley fruit and yams.
